7. Mississippi State at Tennessee
Line: Point Total 62.5
Prediction: Under
I will openly admit that I am not seeing this one clearly at all, but I have a fundamental problem when one team is just that bad and the point total is that high.
Mississippi State is scoring ever since Michael Van Buren, Jr. took over at quarterback – the team put up 31 on Georgia and 24 on Texas A&M – but the Tennessee defense hasn’t allowed more than 19 points in a game all year. Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma – no one has been able to get to 20.
And Tennessee isn’t exactly lighting it up, either.
The Mississippi State defense is awful – Arkansas put up 58 – and Tennessee is WAY overdue to go ballistic on someone, but the Vols haven’t scored more than 28 in any of the five SEC games.
The 71-0 win over Kent State and 69-3 win over Chattanooga were the only two time Tennessee games – even 51-10 over NC State – got to at least 63 points.
6. Clemson at Virginia Tech
Line: Clemson -6
Prediction: Clemson
I do not really have an opinion on this; this seems like a good choice.
Last week, Clemson did everything right against Louisville except win. The 33-21 loss was not caused by anything major. It did not win. But this team is proud and strong enough to get back on track quickly and well.
Virginia Tech is at home, which is risky and broken in many ways.
Aside from the fact that it is Clemson and they are playing well, not much else is thought about this game. That should be enough for them to win by more than a touchdown. It is kind of the same for…
