A new SSDI payment has been approved by Social Security. It will go to disabled Americans who have shown they have a disability that keeps them from doing a substantial gainful activity (SGA) and have paid Social Security taxes for at least 35 years or the last 10 years.
Due to the large number of benefits they have to send out every month, the SSA made a monthly payment schedule so that all beneficiaries can know when they will get their retirement, survivor, or disability benefits.

Social Security has issued an update regarding the new SSDI payment for beneficiaries.
People who can not work because of a serious illness or disability that will last at least a year or will kill them within a year can get monthly benefits from Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
For most older Americans, getting money in retirement comes from Social Security, which includes this program.
The worker who is disabled and any family members who depend on them get benefits based on how much the worker used to make. People with disabilities who want to qualify must have had jobs that paid Social Security.
The Social Security tax that goes to the DI program is paid for in part by both employers and employees. When an employee makes up to $127,200 a year, the Social Security tax is 6.2% of that amount. Both the employer and the employee pay this tax.
Every year, the cap is changed to reflect the average wage. Retirement and survivor benefits from Social Security make up 5.015 percent of the 6.2 percent, and disability insurance makes up 1.185 percent.
The disability insurance tax is 2.37 percent of salaries, and the retirement and survivor benefits tax is 10.03 percent. Together, these two taxes add up to 12.4%.
Who could be eligible to receive the SSDI payment per month?
The Social Security disability test is very strict. Applicants must not be able to do substantial gainful activities because of a medically proven physical or mental impairment that can kill them or lasts for at least 12 months, with at least 12 months of continuous impairment.
Section 223(d) of the Social Security Act says that the person applying must not only not be able to do their previous job but also have a severe impairment or combination of impairments that makes it impossible for them to do any other significant, gainful work that is available in the national economy, taking into account their age, education, and work experience.
The Social Security Administration says that people who are eligible for this program will get their SSDI payment on December 9th if they turned in their first claim after May 1997 and their birthday is between the 1st and 10th of any month.
After this payment is made, the SSA will still send these people two more payments on December 18th and 24th. It is important to remember that if these payments do not arrive on time, you should wait a few days before calling customer service.
