The US Social Security Administration has already planned which months in 2025 will give SSI recipients twice as much money. But it is important to note that this is not a bonus or extra payment.
Instead, the next month’s date must have been moved up because of a federal holiday. The real reason for this “double payment” is the direct deposit or check for the following month.
This usually happens when the first of the month falls on a holiday or weekend. In this case, on December 31, all SSI recipients who have met the SSA’s income and resource requirements will receive a payment for January 1.
A new SSI payment will reach beneficiaries’ bank accounts in 2025
According to new reports, the Social Security Administration has officially said that SSI recipients will get twice as much money next year.
This is very important for low-income Americans, who are some of the most vulnerable people in the US, because they need to know when they will get their monthly help. So, here is the full Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment schedule for people who get it.
SSI payments | SSI payments date | Advanced payment |
January | December 31st | January 31st (February 1st) |
February | – | February 28th (March 1st) |
March | – | – |
April | April 1st | – |
May | May 1st | May 30th (June 1st) |
June | – | – |
July | July 1st | – |
August | August 1st | August 29th (September 1st) |
September | – | – |
October | October 1st | October 31st (November 1st) |
November | – | – |
December | December 1st | December 31st (January 1st) |
SSA will not pay benefits in February, March, or November because those are all weekends, as you can see. Also, remember that people who get Social Security benefits should see their money in their accounts on these exact dates.
If, however, your payments are late, you should wait at least three mailing days before getting in touch with customer service. Do not forget to check My Social Security Account if you need more information about your account or basic social security information.
How much money will SSI recipients receive in the next paycheck?
If you get SSI because you have low income, you should know about the “double payment” months so you do not wait for a third payment that does not exist.
Remember that if you are approved for a $967 payment every month, you will have $1,934 in your bank account. What the Social Security Administration says is that this is the most that a person can get in 2025.
Plus, married couples who are eligible will get a total of $2,900 if they get another payment of up to $1,450 in May 2025. The least amount that can be paid with checks is $484, but after the SSI payments on May 1 and May 30, it will go up to $968.
When the cost of living adjustment (COLA) goes up, more people will be able to get their monthly benefits. This includes people who get SSI, retirees, survivors, and disabled Americans. The new rate increase was set at 2.5%, as announced by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on October 10th.
It will help more than 72 million people in the United States pay their bills and keep up with inflation. Even though the percentage is lower than the current 3.2%, the Social Security Administration will still pay the following amounts to the people who are still receiving benefits:
Retirement benefits | Social Security checks | 2.57% COLA increase | 2.63% COLA increase |
