Colorado – A winter weather advisory has been issued for Colorado’s mountain regions, starting Friday at 4 p.m. and ending Saturday at 5 p.m. Forecasters predict 4 to 12 inches of snow, with the heaviest accumulation above timberline.
The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued an advisory for the Flat Tops, Gore, Elk Mountains, and surrounding valleys, including Aspen, Vail, and Snowmass.
Wind gusts of up to 35 mph can cause hazardous travel conditions. Roads and mountain passes are likely to become slick and challenging, especially during Friday evening and Saturday morning commutes.
Snowfall in the Elkhead and Park Mountains could total 12 inches, with higher accumulations in elevated areas. Travel advisories advise drivers to slow down, allow extra travel time, and exercise caution.
Before leaving, travelers should check road conditions by calling the state’s 511 hotline. The advisory reminds outdoor enthusiasts and commuters to be prepared for snow-covered roads and reduced visibility.
Forecasters recommend preparing for delays and ensuring that vehicles are winter-ready. Weather updates and advisories will continue as conditions change.
