Due to the payment schedule, there was no SSI disbursement in March 2025. When the first day of the month falls on a non-business day, payment is advanced to the previous business day, according to the Social Security Administration. March 1st was a Saturday, so the deposit was made on February 28th.
This policy aims to ensure timely access to funds via direct deposits or cards. Some recipients may be perplexed by receiving the March payment in February, affecting their financial planning. “No additional payment was reported in March,” the SSA confirmed on March 3, 2025.
Maximum SSI Benefit Amounts for 2025
According to data released by the Social Security Administration, the maximum amounts for the Supplemental Security Income program now include the cost of living adjustment (COLA), which was 2.5% this year. This is an annual increase to ensure that beneficiaries maintain their purchasing power.
For an individual applying for SSI alone, the maximum monthly benefit is $967, while a couple can receive up to $1,450.
Finally, payment for an essential person can be requested for up to $484. The essential person figure, in place since before 1974, has increased the benefit by $90 per month since last year.
It only applies to caregivers who have been living with the beneficiary since December 1973 and were not eligible for SSI at the time. There are currently no new cases recognized under this criterion.

Some rules that apply to the Supplemental Security Income program
SSI reductions are applied differently based on the beneficiary’s source of income. For every two dollars earned, SSI is reduced by one. This means that only half of the earnings are deducted.
Unearned income, on the other hand, has a direct impact on SSI payments, as it reduces the benefit by the same amount for every dollar received.
According to federal SSI rules, having limited resources is a fundamental requirement for maintaining eligibility. Beneficiaries must meet certain income and asset thresholds to be eligible for financial assistance.
The Social Security Administration recommends checking payment dates through its portal or calling 1-800-772-1213. Changes in living arrangements, such as sharing housing without splitting expenses, can reduce the benefit by up to $342.33. “We only cover basic needs,” reads an official statement.
