Christopher Mangus, 25, was shot in the back and flown to a hospital in Dayton with injuries that could kill him, according to the Celina police. Samuel Paul, 49, was arrested and charged with felony assault.
Police say that Mangus and Paul got into a fight at 641 N. Sugar Street because Mangus left with his kids inside. Around 1:30 am. when he came back with someone else to get some things for his kids.
The person was standing at the door when they heard yelling as Magnus walked out the door. They say they saw Paul reach around them and shoot Magnus as he walked out the door. The case is still being looked into.
Going to 641 N. Sugar St. in Celina to shoot
Around 1:30 a.m. on November 3, 2024, Celina Police were called to 641 N. Sugar St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. When the police got there, they saw one of the residents, Christopher Alan Mangus, 25, lying on the ground in front of the house with a gunshot wound to the back.
A person who was there said that the shooter was 49-year-old Samuel Paul, who also lived at 641 N. Sugar St. The scene was secured, and until EMS from the Celina Fire Dept. arrived, the Celina Police began life-saving first aid.
The first steps of the investigation show that Samuel Paul is Christopher Mangus’s stepfather-in-law. There was a fight between family members at the house before, and Mangus left with his kids.
He went back with the witness to get things for the kids. Someone heard yelling and was at the front door when Mangus left. He says that as Christopher Mangus was leaving the house, Samuel Paul reached around him and shot him in the back.
Christopher Mangus was taken by EMS to Mercer Health, and from there he was flown to a hospital in the Dayton area with injuries that could kill him. Mangus had surgery to fix those problems. We do not know what is wrong with him right now.
Assaulting a First-Degree Felon is the main charge against Samuel Paul, who is being held in the Mercer County Jail. The case is still being looked into, and Erin Minor, the prosecutor for Mercer County, is looking it over.
Judge Kathryn Speelman, who had a search warrant, Mercer County Prosecutor Erin Minor, and deputies from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office all helped with this investigation.
