A mom was shot dead while trying to help her daughter move out of an ex-boyfriend’s home and now he faces murder charges.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home in Des Moines, Iowa, around 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Based on the Des Moines Register, they found Ruth Sue Ann Robinson, 45, and her husband Tony Ray Robison, 52, both with gunshot wounds. They were both taken to the hospital, but Robinson did not make it.
As of Monday, Tony Ray Robinson was still in critical condition.
He was arrested at the scene of the crime and charged with shooting Hamza Smajlovic, 24.Police say Smajlovic fired a 9mm pistol into the home of his ex-girlfriend, Robinson, and hit her husband as well.
Robinson was shot in the head. Also in the house at the time of the shooting were two other people who were hurt.
The ex-boyfriend had just broken up with Smajlovic and was currently moving out of his house, which is where the shooting took place, according to the Register. Robinson and her husband were there to help her move out.
Smajlovic was charged with murder in the first degree, attempted murder, and being a threat with a dangerous weapon. He is being held in jail in Iowa on a $750,000 bond.
