After beating her Democratic opponent Whitney Fox, Rep. Anna Paulina (R-FL) won her seat in Congress for a second term.
When the Associated Press called the race at 7:46 p.m., with 91% of the votes counted, Luna had 54.7% of the vote and Fox had 45.3%.
The 13th Congressional District in Florida was rated “Likely Republican” by the Cook Political Report. This made it one of the safest Republican swing seats.
In October, a poll from St. Pete Polls showed that the two were tied, which caused trouble.
Fox tried to make Luna look like an extremist whose main goal was to cause chaos in Congress.
She told 10 Tampa Bay, “We need someone in Washington who will work for our community.”
Unfortunately, we have a representative who has not done anything for Pinellas County and only stirs up partisanship and conflict in Washington.
Luna has replied that Fox was the extremist, which is different.
Olivia Carson, Whitney Fox’s campaign manager, told the Florida Phoenix, “Whitney Fox is a dishonest extreme liberal who talks a lot but does nothing.”
“While she was busy lying to people in Pinellas County, Representative Luna was meeting with people, helping them with their FEMA applications, holding supply drives for our neighbors.
Who were hit by the storm, meeting with President Biden and Governor DeSantis to talk about recovery efforts, and leading the charge for more recovery help by co-sponsoring bipartisan legislation to immediately add $15 billion to FEMA for storm recovery.”
Luna won in the end and was re-elected to a second term in Congress.
