Does Georgia feel disrespected in any way for being put third in the first round of College Football Playoff rankings?
That’s not really how this team works, but it does point to how the team is playing. Yeah, Ohio State losing by one on the road to No. 1 Oregon is why the Dawgs are third, but they’re also fighting a bit through errors and inconsistencies.
Overall it’s still more than talented enough to win the national title, but every game is a bit of a struggle including a 34-20 battle with Florida last week. There’s this, then Tennessee, then a scrimmage against UMass before closing with Georgia Tech.
Ole Miss has been a wee bit inconsistent, but it flexed a little muscle in the 26-14 win over Oklahoma and went off on Arkansas in a 63-31 blasting last week.
Deep in the mix for a College Football Playoff at-large spot, the No. 16 team finishes up with a trip to Florida before the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State.
But make no mistake about it. If Ole Miss beats Georgia, it’s in the CFP if it wins those last two games

Why Georgia Will Win
If you stop Jaxson Dart and Ole Miss’s passing game from getting going, the machine will move more slowly.
The Rebels will not be able to run often against Georgia’s defense; Alabama was the only team that could run well against them, but they stopped in the second half.
But the Tide threw a lot of bombs at the Dawg secondary, and Mississippi State was able to get to 300 yards with mostly empty yards left over.
The Rebels are 7-0 when they throw for 285 yards or more and 0-2 when they miss the mark. Dart does not always throw the ball well, and the team missed 10 third downs against Kentucky because they were not passing.
In the loss to LSU, third downs were not a problem. It was the two turnovers and 12 penalties that cost the most.
Georgia’s defense should be strong enough to keep the game moving, but…
Why Ole Miss Will Win
Georgia, really… THE TURNOVERS.
Once more, this team is good enough to win the national title, but it keeps making mistakes that hurt itself.
During the first three games, it did not give the ball away. But then it made 12 mistakes in the last six games and had more than one turnover in four of those six games.
Carson Beck, the quarterback, has been intercepting passes like crazy, with 11 of the 12 turnovers coming from picks.
It is only Boise State that has more sacks than Ole Miss. No other team in America has more tackles for loss. While Georgia’s offensive line does a good job of protecting the quarterback, all it takes is a little pressure on Beck and a rush to make things happen.
In its last four games, Ole Miss has forced two turnovers.
Georgia vs Ole Miss: Who Will Win?
Even though Georgia is not perfect, it always finds a way to do well when it is put to the test.
It played a terrible first half against Alabama and could not get back on track. However, it did well when it had to step things up against Florida, Texas, and Kentucky in the late stages.
Ole Miss will score quickly, which will let Georgia’s offense breathe a little easier, and Beck will mess up again.
And will get past the mistakes once they play the Dawgs. Georgia will come up with two great late drives—their passing attack needs to work—to save yet another game. Ole Miss, besides the Arkansas game, does not give up a thing against the run.
