Social Security has changed the dates that some people will get their monthly benefits, so some people will not get them in January. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients usually get their payments on the first of every month.
But since January 1 is a holiday, the SSA will move the payment date to December 31, which was the last business day before the holiday. Because of this, people who get SSI will not get their regular benefits in January.
Aside from people who get SSI, the following groups will get their regular payments: retirees, survivors, disabled people, and people who are retired
- On the third day of the month (January 3rd), for retired workers, survivors, and disabled people who claimed benefits before May 1997.
- On the second Wednesday (January 8th), RSDI recipients who were born between the 1st and the 10th and collected their first benefits after May 1997.
- On the third Wednesday (January 15th), RSDI beneficiaries who were born between the 11th and the 20th and collected benefits after May 1997.
- On the fourth Wednesday (January 22nd), RSDI beneficiaries who were born between the 21st and the 31st and collected benefits after May 1997.
If your Social Security payment does not arrive on the due date, you should wait at least three mailing days before calling SSA customer service.

Full Social Security payment schedule for next year
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has released the 2025 U.S. Social Security payment schedule to help beneficiaries and retirees who depend on this income plan their bills.
The goal of this plan is to make sure that people get their money on time, even on weekends and holidays. It covers both retirement benefits and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) deposits.
Here is a full list of when people in the United States get their Social Security payments, along with a prediction of any changes that might affect people who get SSI benefits.
Putting these dates in order by date of birth makes it possible to plan precisely and consistently for managing the incomes of retirees and beneficiaries.
The 2025 U.S. Social Security payment schedule has also been split up into separate monthly days to make it easier for the Social Security Administration (SSA) to send benefits to people who are eligible.
This system sets three monthly payment dates based on the date of birth of each beneficiary to make sure that the delivery process runs smoothly and on time.
The deposit is made on the next business day if the payment date is on a weekend or holiday. For each month, the following dates are set for billing:
- January: 8, 15 and 22
- February: 12, 19 and 26
- March: 12, 19 and 26
- April: 9, 16 and 23
- May: 14, 21 and 28
- June: 11, 18 and 25
- July: 9, 23 and 30
- August: 13, 20 and 27
- September: 10, 17 and 24
- October: 8, 15 and 22
- November: 12, 19 and 26
- December: 10, 17 and 24
This payment structure makes sure that U.S. retirees and Social Security recipients get their payments on clear, regular dates. This helps them better plan their money and keep track of their monthly bills.
