An East Harlem maniac attempted to damage an MTA bus before attacking the female driver, all out of rage after missing the bus, according to authorities.
When the 46-year-old driver failed to catch the bus at East 125th Street and Third Avenue around 2:10 a.m. on Oct. 18, the lunatic attacked him, according to police.
He yelled at the operator before bending the driver’s side windshield wiper on the bus and attempting to break the mirror, according to authorities.
Police say the angry person who wanted to ride the bus then slammed the window on the driver’s left arm several times.
Police say he then ran away on foot, going east on East 125th Street toward Third Avenue.
The driver was attacked and just barely hurt. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and was listed as being in stable condition there.
Police put out surveillance pictures of the attacker that were taken from the bus’s windshield.
He was last seen wearing a green hat, a black jacket, a white T-shirt, black jeans, and black boots. He is described as a man with dreadlocks, a medium build, and dark hair.
As of September, the most recent data available from the MTA, online statistics show that 48 bus drivers have been sacked so far this year.
That number went down from 55 during the same time period in 2023.
Anyone with information on the violent crime is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
