Prediction, Preview, and Betting Lines for Oregon vs. Wisconsin

Oregon only needs one more win to be in the Big Ten Championship game. Their win over Ohio State pretty much ends all hopes of a tie. If it does not happen in Madison, there is still a chance with Washington.

The best team in the country is now in full swing. Even though it does not have Penn State, Indiana, or Michigan on it, the schedule has not been too bad. It passes its one big test. Also, they only need one more win to be sure of a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Wisconsin needs something strong WAY too long. It beat the teams it was supposed to beat and got smashed by the teams it was supposed to beat.

Now it needs to make a statement with games at Nebraska and Minnesota coming up. You can not be sure that you will get that sixth win and a bowl game.

Why Oregon Will Win

So far, Oregon’s run defense has been great.

Even though Purdue lost 35-0 to the Ducks, they were able to get moving. However, most of those yards were lost in a big way. The passing game did not do anything to hurt Oregon’s defense.

The Ducks were also run well by Boise State, but that Ashton Jeanty guy made that possible. Wisconsin does not have a great back, even though it has had great backs in the past.

The Badgers will have trouble with Dillon Gabriel’s midrange passing, and the lines will have a tough time with Wisconsin’s physical style. But it is the running game that really matters.

The Badgers are 5-0 when they run for more than 150 yards and 0-4 when they don’t. Oregon gave the Boilers and the Broncos more than 150 yards, and that was it.

Why Wisconsin Will Win

No, this is not the old Wisconsin team, and it does not have the defense or strength to beat teams up and make them do what it wants.

But the pass defense has been great—only three times has it given up 150 yards or more—and it can still hit a bit.

Even with all the issues, the pass defense is sixth in the country, the pass protection has been great, and there are not many penalties.

The offense is just balanced enough to keep things going on the Duck defense, which has not seen a dangerous offense other than Boise State and Ohio State.

Oregon vs Wisconsin: Who Will Win?

Once more, Wisconsin is long overdue to do better.

It does not have the talent to do this, but if it can come up with a good ground game right away and make a few big plays on defense and special teams…

It is not good to be Wisconsin.

It is okay. It is still possible to beat Minnesota, but it has not shown any extra gear to play loud for the whole game.

The games against Iowa and Alabama were not even close. The second halves of the games against Penn State and USC were a mess, but Oregon will get back on track as the game goes on.
