Monday night, strong winds in New York City hit the city hard, and window glass from an eight-story apartment building in Queens hit a 9-year-old girl and a male cousin.
Police say that the child and the man were both taken to the hospital after the glass broke on top of them on the ground below the tall building.
At 6:10 p.m., the scary scene happened when the glass panel fell off of an apartment balcony and onto Beech Avenue below, according to police.
The two victims did not have any major injuries or cuts, but the NYPD says they were taken to North Shore Hospital to be checked out.
Lawyers for the police said the girl and the 45-year-old man she was with were connected.
Photos from the scene showed broken glass all over the path as emergency workers from the city’s buildings department looked at the damage.
Meteorologists say that winds in the city were around 15 mph Monday night and Tuesday, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
