Law enforcement sources say that a dead baby was found dumped in the bathroom of a restaurant in the Financial District on Monday morning. The police are now working hard to figure out what happened.
Police and sources say the child’s body was found in the bathroom of Sophie’s Cuban Cuisine on Fulton Street near Gold Street downtown just before 10 a.m. The child’s gender and age were not known at the time.
Authorities say that when police arrived at the scene of the 911 call, they found the baby asleep and not responding.
Paramedics said the baby was dead at the scene, according to the police.
A mum in the area told The Post, “It is horribleāit is a baby.” I think it is someone who had no other choice. It is likely that they are desperate.
She said, “This kind of stuff usually means there is a problem with the system.” “What makes a mother of a baby want to do that so badly?” Why would she think that is the only thing she can do?
“That is awful.” That really did not happen, I swear.
Ali, who works at a nearby deli, told police that he gave them security video from his place of business.
“They asked for video from a camera in this store area…” Ali said, “to see who just walks in and who isn’t, like, the person who dropped the baby or something.” “I have no idea.”
