A drunk college student who used the n-word 200 times in a rant will now spend a year in jail.
Sophia Rosing, who used to go to the University of Kentucky, became famous in 2022 after a video of her rant was shared on social media. It was caught on video that Rosing called another student a racial slur and hit her.
Rosing has already admitted to four counts of fourth-degree abuse and other charges. She said sorry to Kylah Spring, another student, and people in the Black community when she made her plea.
Rosing was given a 12-month jail term and 100 hours of community service by a judge in Kentucky this week.
After her last plea hearing, her lawyer, Fred Peters, told the local media that the plea was made with input from both sides.
“A lot was said, people said sorry, and we worked it out,” Peters said of the meeting. “She has had a lot of time to think about what she has done, and she wrote a nice letter of apology.”
But Spring said after Rosing’s plea hearing that she did not think he was sorry.
Following the event, Rosing was not allowed to enter the Kentucky campus.
Spring said in the popular video that Rosing hit her several times and kicked her in the stomach. Within the video, Rosing can be heard yelling at Spring while she talks about what happened. She calls the Black student the n-word and a “b****” the whole time.
In the course of the video, she says the racial term about 200 times.
