A man and woman were discovered dead in their garage just before 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve in an apparent murder-suicide.
“So sad,” said Virginia Monza, who lives across the street. “There was a lot of police, investigators, firetrucks, and first responders.”
Police were called to the home shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday. According to sources, two people had been shot in the garage.
According to the Beaver County Coroner, Joyce Kostandin, 41, died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
John Kostandin, 48, died of a self-inflicted gunshot.
“Very shocking, was not expecting that,” Monza told Channel 11’s Andrew Havranek.
Monza said she moved in about eight months ago and hasn’t interacted much with the couple other than waving a few times.
However, she and other neighbors who did not want to be photographed claim that this has shaken their small, quiet street.
She stated that the couple had children and had a message for them and their family in this difficult time.
“Our prayers are with you, dear Lord. God bless you,” she said.
State police are still investigating.
