A 25-year-old man was arrested after allegedly robbing a Manhattan assistant district attorney in the lobby of her Midtown building.
Police say that Brandon Simosa met the 38-year-old victim in the hallway of her West 44th Street building around 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Police say he took the victim’s purse, cell phone, and bank card before putting himself out there.
Police were able to find the person with the phone and arrest him on Tuesday near a hotel on West 45th Street and Eighth Avenue. This led them to believe the suspect is a migrant.
Police say he had drugs on him and shoes worth $525 that were stolen from Adidas.
People think that Simosa is a member of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. This is the same group that has hurt people in Times Square and Central Park.
As well as other charges, he was charged with criminal possession and stealing for sexual reasons.
He is been caught six times in five months for crimes that are similar.
He may have come to the United States in February 2023.
In this case, the victim is an assistant district attorney in Manhattan, so the case will be handled by the Bronx District Attorney’s Office.
