People in the Bronx are furious that police have not arrested the woman who they think stole money from a boy’s hand and then slap his mother at a store. She is still walking around the block.
“She is still seen around here.” A worker at Richard’s Fruits and Vegetables told The Post on Sunday, “I saw her about two days ago.”
“After the attack, she ran away, but I live in the area and saw her walking around again before I went to work,” she said.
The suspect, who was wearing a pink wig, was caught on camera breaking into the small market on Jerome Avenue on September 24 and robbing a 7-year-old boy who had cash on him.
As she turned to leave, she ran into the boy’s 38-year-old mother, who was pushing a walker with another child in it. This person then hit the mom in the face, which scared her, and ran away.
Erick Vidals, co-owner of Richard’s Fruits and Vegetables, told The Post that he knew the suspect from the neighborhood and that she is still around even though she stole something and hit someone.
He last saw her on Saturday, without the wig. He called the cops right away, but he said they arrived too late.
“She was in the block.” Vives said, “She walked back and forth in front of my store for about five minutes.”
“A few of us called 911, including me.” I told them I had the woman who stole the kid’s money here. They asked me what color her skin is, what she was wearing, and what color her hair is. “There were small things they could skip and just call the police,” he said.
“After about 15 to 20 minutes, the police showed up.” They asked her where she was first. They heard me say she left.
Vidals told the police that all he could do was point them in the direction where the suspect was last seen going. He said, “They were going to go that way to see if they see her.”
“That is it.” They did not come back. They would have caught her if they had come right away.
The NYPD told The Post that signs with the suspect’s picture were up around the neighborhood on Sunday.
