A young actor who starred in Baby Driver died at the age of 16, prompting heartfelt tributes.
Hudson Joseph Meek was killed last week when he reportedly fell from a moving vehicle in Alabama.
According to NBC affiliate WTVM, the teen actor sustained blunt force injuries when he fell on the 1900 block of Canyon Road in Vestavia Hills on December 1.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office later identified Hudson as the victim of the car accident, according to the outlet.
According to local news outlets, he was taken to UAB Hospital and died two days later from his injuries.
It is understood that the Vestavia Hills Police Department is still investigating the incident.
Hudson has appeared in the major motion picture Baby Driver and the television series MacGyver.
His breakthrough role came in 2017 as Young Baby in the film Baby Driver, which starred Ansel Elgort.
A published obituary paid tribute to Hudson, describing him as a “accomplished actor.”
It stated that “He worked on several major motion pictures and television shows, some of which will be released in 2025.”
“He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the chance to learn the names and stories of every member of the cast and crew.”
The tribute continued, “Hudson’s personality was unique. He was confident, adamant about his beliefs, spontaneous, and quick-witted.
“He never let facts get in the way of telling a funny story, and he enjoyed friendly banter.”
“He was a prankster who enjoyed a good joke and was happiest when he made other people laugh.
In addition to acting, Meek enjoyed sports, travel, and spending time with his close friends.
According to the obituary, Hudson, of Vestavia Hills, was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School and a member of the football team.
Hudson thrived in settings where he could meet and serve new people. Hudson was a vibrant and dynamic individual who embraced life to the fullest.”
On Saturday, December 21, Meek’s Instagram account posted: “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight.”
“His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
Hudson’s professional acting credits date back to 2014, when he appeared in the television film The Santa Con, alongside Melissa Joan Hart and Jaleel White.
His other acting credits, according to IMDb, include the MacGyver reboot series, Genius, and, most recently, The School Duel.
Hudson’s family has announced plans to establish a scholarship in his memory for Vestavia Hills High School students, according to Yahoo.
Meek’s family has stated that memorial services will take place later this week.
