Grand Junction, CO – A winter weather advisory has been issued for portions of Colorado, including the Northwest San Juan Mountains.
The National Weather Service predicts 4 to 8 inches of snow between late Friday and Saturday evening, with higher amounts in some areas. Winds up to 45 mph can cause hazardous travel conditions.
Telluride, Ouray, and Lake City are among the communities impacted by the advisory. Snowfall begins at 11 p.m. Friday and lasts until 5 p.m. Saturday. Roadways, particularly mountain passes, are likely to become slick and dangerous.
Additionally, the Flat Tops, Aspen, Vail, and Snowmass areas will experience similar conditions beginning earlier Friday at 4 p.m. Winds in these areas could gust up to 35 mph, posing risks to commuters and outdoor enthusiasts.
Residents are encouraged to drive carefully and check road conditions by dialing 511. Snow-covered roads and reduced visibility may cause travel disruptions throughout the region.
