The Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program is very important in the United States because it helps people who can not work because of a condition.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) runs this program to help people who have worked and paid into the system but can not find regular work for different reasons.
People who get SSDI get funds every month that are supposed to cover their basic needs, like food, shelter, and medical care.
People who want to get SSDI must meet certain requirements, such as having worked for a certain amount of years and paying federal taxes. They also have to show that their disability makes it impossible for them to do any substantial job.
The application process can be hard, and you often have to send in a lot of medical and work-related paperwork.
Once accepted, the amount of the cheque depends on how much the person used to make. This amount is looked at every year to make sure it still matches the cost of living.
As more people with permanent or long-term illnesses apply for this kind of help, SSDI has become an important source of income for many families in the US.
When will the next Disability payments arrive?
So long as we have some kind of Social Security income, they will send us a cheque in the next few months. Even so, we can figure out next year’s cheque if we know the COLA, but we will still get a cheque even without this rise.

The last payments for the year will be made on the following days, before the 2025 COLA increase:
October
- October 16: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks with birthdays between the 11th and 20th collect on this day.
- October 23: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks with a birthday between the 21st and 31st collect on this day.
November
- November 1: Supplemental Security Income payments for all Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries.
- November 1: Retirees with a pre-May 1997 benefit can get this payment.
- November 13: Disability retirees and all other beneficiaries with post-May 1997 checks with a birthday between the 1st and 10th collect on this day.
- November 20: Retirees with checks after May 1997 with a birthday between the 11th and the 20th are eligible for collection on this day.
- November 27: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks with birthdays between the 21st and 31st collect on this day.
- November 29: December Supplemental Social Security. This is because December 1 is a weekend.
December
- December 1: Pensioners with benefits prior to May 1997 may collect this payment.
- December 11: Retirees with a post-May 1997 check with a birthday between the 1st and 10th collect on this day.
- December 18: Retirees with a post-May 1997 check with a birthday between 11 and 20 collect this day.
- December 24: Retirees with checks after May 1997 with a birthday between the 21st and the 31st will collect on this day.
- December 31: Complementary Social Security payment corresponding to the month of December. This is due to the fact that January 1 is a weekend. This payment will include the COLA 2025.
Keep in mind that these are the days that the Disability Administration sends checks. To get paid on the same day, you must have Direct Deposit set up.
