A man from North Carolina was ordered to stay in jail on Monday because prosecutors said he was a danger to his children and in-laws, who successfully asked that his bail be revoked. He is accused of poisoning his wife and 10-year-old daughter with eye drops.
Gaston County prosecutors say Joshua Hunsucker, who was a paramedic at the time of his wife’s poisoning, killed 32-year-old Stacy Hunsucker with tetrahydrozoline, a toxic chemical found in Visine eye drops, and then put their daughter in the hospital in 2023.
John and Suzie Robinson, Stacy Hunsucker’s parents, are in the criminal and legal spotlight because their son-in-law accused them of killing Stacy and poisoning his daughter, as well as harassing them and setting up his own kidnapping.
Based on a motion request the Robinsons made in August, when Hunsucker was accused of poisoning his daughter, a Gaston County judge revoked his bond on Monday.
The Robinsons were in court at the time. The ex-medic was free on a $1.5 million bond that he posted in December 2019, right before Christmas, for allegedly killing his wife.
His two kids’ mother, Stacy Hunsucker, died of a heart attack at her home in North Carolina after the alleged poisoning. At first, it was thought that she had died of natural causes because she was said to have had heart problems.
But there was no way to know for sure because Joshua Hunsucker had asked that his wife not be autopsied and that she be cremated right away.
Prosecutors say that Stacy Hunsucker’s husband’s alleged plans were found out through organ and blood tests because she was an organ donor.
On Monday, it was said that Hunsucker should stay in jail because of how he was said to have treated the Robinsons and his children over the past few years.
Police say he followed the couple around and threatened them. They also say he abused his two kids, who are 9 and 11 years old.
It was 2023, and Hunsucker told the Mount Holly Police Department that John Robinson had attacked and taken him hostage.
According to local Fox affiliate WJZY, the police report said, “He said that he stopped to change a flat tire and was pistol-whipped several times.” “Then he had his hands zip-tied and was injected with something we do not know.”
Hunsucker is also accused of blaming the Robinsons for poisoning his wife and daughter, even though police say there is no proof that they had anything to do with the crimes.
“Again, Hunsucker’s daughter was poisoned to try to link Mr. and Mrs. Robinson to the death of his wife and keep the Robinsons out of the lives of his daughters,” the motion to revoke Hunsucker’s bond says.
Hunsucker was ordered to be held without bond on the first-degree murder charge, but he was given a $25,000 bond for his new charges related to poisoning his daughter and harassing the Robinsons.
These new charges include four counts of intimidating a witness and four counts of obstructing justice. Hunsucker is being charged with insurance fraud and first-degree murder for the death of his wife.
On Monday, the judge in charge of his case said that he will not be released even if he can pay bail.
