After the 2025 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) confirmed that SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits have been changed.
This affects people in the 48 contiguous states, the District of Columbia, Alaska, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. One major exception is Hawaii, where benefits have gone down.
Boost for Most States, Reduction for Hawaii
Most people who get SNAP benefits will see a small rise after the 2025 COLA changes. For example, a family of four can now get up to $975 a month, which is a little more than the previous limit of $973.
Even though the change may not seem like much, it helps users deal with the high cost of food. The rewards for people in Hawaii, on the other hand, have gone down because of changes that only apply to that state.

Alaska Tops SNAP Benefits After COLA Adjustment
After the COLA changes, Alaska has the highest SNAP benefit payments. This is because of its unique economy, which includes high prices for things like transportation and energy. Alaska’s payment systems are different depending on where you are in the state:
- Rural 2 Areas: Up to $1,953 for a family of four
- Urban Areas: Up to $1,258 for a family of four
With these changes, people who are getting benefits should look at their state’s distribution times and make plans to make the most of them.
