This time around, the SEC Championship does not stand for anything. It is not a “win or go to random bowl” game, and the winner does not even get to brag.
But the winner gets a bye and the loser has to play an extra home game.
Fans of Texas would be thrilled to win the SEC Championship, but if everything goes as planned, these two teams could play each other again in the CFP. Georgia won the first game.
The winner will get the second seed, and if Texas beats the Bulldogs, they might get the no. 1 spot if Penn State beats Oregon. (The secret part is that it does not really matter because of how the seeds are lined up.)
