Since it is now November, millions of people who get Social Security are still waiting for their checks to be deposited over the next few weeks.
The SSA had to reschedule payments for Americans who retired, died, or became disabled and got their first check before May 1997, so this month there will be a week without payments.
This payment was supposed to be sent on the third of the month, but it fell on a weekend. So, the SSA sent it on the first of the month, along with the payment for people who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Those who were supposed to get two payments last week will not get any this week because of this.
Retirees will not receive Social Security checks this week
For those who are eligible, the SSA sends five rounds of payments based on their date of birth, the program they are in, and the date they claimed their first check. Please read the following to get a better idea of how the Social Security payment schedule works.
- On the first day of each month: for recipients of the Supplemental Security Income program.
- On the third day of the month: retirees, survivors, and handicapped individuals who received benefits before May 1997.
- On the second Wednesday: RSDI claimants who claimed checks after May 1997 and were born between the 1st and 10th
- On the third Wednesday: RSDI claimants who claimed checks after May 1997 and were born between the 11th and the 20th.
- On the fourth Wednesday: RSDI claimants who claimed checks after May 1997 and were born between the 21st and the 31st.
In addition to this change, the Social Security Administration will give qualified SSI recipients an extra payment because December 1 is a weekend. Please look over the following information to understand all of the upcoming payment dates:

How much money will SSI and RSDI recipients receive in the next Social Security check?
As of now, the SSA’s rules say that people who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will get an average of $698 a month if they meet the requirements for income and resources.
People who filed as individuals can also get up to $943, and couples can get up to $1,415.
People who are retired, disabled, or have lost a spouse will get different amounts of money depending on their full retirement age (FRA), work history, Social Security taxes paid, and the type of disability that keeps them from working.
This is especially true for people who qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Please look at the following information to learn more about the different payment amounts:
Retirement benefits | Social Security checks |
On average | $1,900 |
Age 62 | $2,710 |
Age 67 | $3,822 |
Age 70 | $4,873 |
Survivor benefits | Social Security checks |

2 Children | $3,653 |

Please remember that if your Social Security checks do not arrive on the due date, you should wait at least three days before calling the SSA’s customer service.
The delay could be caused by your bank’s processing system instead of the SSA. Also, remember that you can go to your “My Social Security Account” to find out more about how much your monthly payment is.
