States all over the country are giving out tax refunds. People and families are having a hard time keeping up with inflation and rising costs of living.
The refunds and other stimulus checks help them out financially. Several states will send our rebates to their people this month, and the new cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) number will also be released.
This is what will decide how much Social Security funds will go up next year.
South Carolina intends to distribute $1.8 billion to its residents
In April of this year, it was found that $1.8 billion in state funds had not been used for more than five years.
South Carolinians are still waiting to hear for sure what will happen with the money, but the most likely outcome is that it will be given back to them in the form of refunds.
At that time, lawmakers passed a bill that would have given individuals who filed a tax return in 2023 a one-time refund.
The source of the money and the reason it has not been used are still being looked into. Nothing is certain about what will happen to the hidden jackpot until that is known.
It is possible to give the money back to the people if it really did come from tax money. In the event that it turns out to be government money, however, that will not be possible.
South Carolina residents will still receive $800 dollars in rebates this month
People in South Carolina can still get ready for a guaranteed rebate that is coming their way while the state decides what to do with the found money.
This month, you could get $800 in rebates if you did your taxes on time this year. People who live in New Mexico and are married and file their taxes together will also get $800 back this month.
These $800 refunds, on the other hand, are only for seniors. Some states, like Virginia, California, Colorado, and Montana, are giving up to $800 in stimulus money to older citizens.

South Carolina and New Mexico are two of those states. Not every state will give the full $800, like New Mexico and South Carolina did. Some companies will give refunds in different amounts.
Different states will provide different payment details
The amount of the refund will depend on how many seniors live in the home and how much money they make. California is likely to give between $200 and $1,050.
The rebate amounts in Colorado will be the same as the 2023 refund amounts. People in Montana can get the full $800, while people in New Mexico who file as a single person can expect $400.
Their tax returns will tell us how much $650 is, and $150 has been set aside for property taxes. VA’s numbers will also be different.
In some places, rebates have been given out since the beginning of the year, and in others, they will start this month. However, most people still do not believe the numbers.
People who receive Social Security benefits can expect to get their payouts on time, based on their birth dates. This month, Rhode Island will also give out their one-time child tax refunds.
Through their Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD), Alaska will be giving out more than $3,000 this month. Even though these refunds have been sent out since September, some are still due this month.
Just over $1,000 was paid out in PFDs last year. The PFD takes money that the state has made from mines and gives it to different groups. Alaska makes more zinc and gold than any other state in the country.
This is the first time since the COVID19 pandemic that analysts have seen prices start to level off: 2024. However, the cost of living is still high in most states.
Many families and people are glad to get tax rebates and stimulus checks. This is especially true now that winter is here and some states have to pay for heating.
