Steven Valle, the Indiana father who is accused of setting fire to his newborn children’s bodies in the garden and killing them, is said to have told police that he made a necklace out of the children’s ashes.
Valle, 31, and Samantha Sebella, 25, were both investigated by police on September 20 after Valle reportedly told friends that he had killed two undocumented children and burned their bodies in their backyard fire pit.
At first, Valle and Sebella told police they did not know of any child being burned in a fire pit. But when they were questioned further, police found a series of terrifying text messages between the couple that confirmed the deaths of several children.
On September 30, police brought cadaver dogs to the house. The dogs then pointed out a fire pit and a pile of ashes near the garage, which led detectives to use shovels to dig up part of the backyard and find the bone fragments.
Valle dug up the children and burned them in the fire pit. They had been hidden for three to five years.
According to an affidavit, Steven stated that he did keep some of the ashes to make a necklace as a souvenir.
