A 27-year-old man was charged with stalking after he reportedly put a tracking device on a woman’s car and tried to break into her home in October.
Around 10:50 p.m. on October 11, a woman called 911 to say that a break-in was happening at her home on Laura Lane. Westlake police responded and found the break-in in process.
Western Lakes Police say the caller said she heard someone trying to open the sliding glass door on the side of the house.
Police say that when they got there, they saw a man in a mask in the yard of the house.
Alexander Victor Forcht, 27, of Cleveland, ran away from police, and body camera video shows that they used a K-9 unit and a Taser to catch him.
When someone asked Forcht why he was out that night, he said, “It is over a girl.”
After looking into it more, police found that he had not only been trying to break into the occupied house, but he had also been following the woman’s moves by using GPS devices on her car.
One of the GPS trackers that police found was on the woman’s car’s trunk.
Police said Forcht was charged with felony attempted theft and menacing by stalking. He has a $50,000 bond and is being held at the Cuyahoga County Jail.
A release says that Westlake Police also issued a security order.
