California – The United States deports an average of 135 migrants every day on planes to Mexico, according to a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) spokesman.
CBP Deputy Director Ricardo Moreno told El Sol Newspaper in Mexico City that since President Donald Trump took office, more than 4,000 people had been flown into Mexico’s interior. The United States has also deported migrants to Guatemala, Honduras, and Venezuela.
“The message is clear,” Moreno said. “President Trump’s executive orders have mandated that no further irregular entries into the United States occur. If you need to enter the country, you must do so legally through a port of entry.
Moreno stressed that deportation is both an enforcement mechanism and a safety concern for migrants.
“Illegal entries are extremely risky. We encourage migrants to avoid taking risks and understand that if they are apprehended, they will be prosecuted and deported. If they have a cause to cross the border, they should do it at a port of entry, he stated.
According to the Mexican authorities, as of March 3, 19,663 migrants had been deported since Trump took office on January 20. Of that total, 4,052 were not Mexican nationals.
The United States continues to enforce stringent immigration regulations, with deportation flights being a crucial component of Trump’s larger assault on illegal immigration.
