The Moses Lake Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit (SCU) carried out a search order at 316 W Ridge Road in Moses Lake on October 17. This was part of an ongoing drug investigation aimed at Curtis Terry, 38, a resident of the area.
Police found Terry’s wife, Carey Lawson, who is 39 years old, and their five-year-old child inside the house during the raid. A check of the house turned up drugs and things that were typical of drug distribution.
Child Protective Services (CPS) was called to check on the child’s safety after weeks of spying and the things that were found during the search.
CPS decided that the child had to be taken away from the home. Later, the child tested positive for methamphetamine and had to go to the hospital for serious health problems.
Both Terry and Lawson were arrested and put in jail. Both people are being asked to face charges of child endangerment regarding a controlled substance (RCW 9A.42.100).
Curtis Terry is also being charged with having a controlled substance on him with the plan to deliver it (RCW 69.50.401).
The investigation is still going on.
