Every month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) sends a Social Security check to people in the United States who are eligible for the Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (RSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has to send payments to more than 70 million people in the United States.
Every year, they share their Social Security payment schedule, which lists all the dates that payments are due for the year. Following this month’s payment plan, there is still one check that needs to be sent on October 23rd.
The last Social Security check of October has been confirmed
People who filed for Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (RSDI) after May 1997 and were born between May 21 and May 31 will get their last Social Security check of the month next Wednesday.
It is important to note that the 3.2% cost of living adjustment (COLA) that was set last October is already part of this payment. After this payment is sent, the SSA will go back to its normal plan on November 1 with a double payment.
Please read the information below to learn more about the next payment schedule. There are some small changes to the usual payment schedule in November.
SSI recipients always get their benefits first, on the first day of the month. On the third day of the month, RSDI receivers who claimed benefits before May 1997 get their benefits.
Even though November 3rd is a weekend, the Social Security Administration will move the payment to the work day before, which is also November 1st. This is why the people who are supposed to get the money will get two payments that day.
After the first two payments, the SSA will send three more payments to seniors who claimed benefits after May 1997 on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month, as long as the following items are met:
- If they were born between the 1st and the 10th, they will get their Social Security check on the second week of the month, or November 13th.
- If they were born between the 11th and the 20th, they will get their Social Security check on the second week of the month, or November 20th.
- If they were born between the 21st and the 31st, they will get their Social Security check on the second week of the month or November 27th.
Even though Social Security makes payments on time, people who are supposed to get them should know that if they do not get them on time, it could be because of how long it takes your bank to process the payment.
Because of this, you should generally wait at least three postal days before calling SSA customer service. Do not forget to check “My Social Security Account” to find out more about how much you will be paying each month.
Social Security to simplify access to qualify for the Social Security check
The SSA changed its processes to make them less complicated and easier for people with disabilities to use.
As of April 18, a new policy called “Interim Improvements to the Disability Adjudication Process: Including How We Consider Past Work” was put in place to help with this.
Claimants should not have to wait as long for their first Social Security payment after getting a decision from the SSA with the new form.
This move is part of the Executive Order on Transforming Federal Customer Experience and Service Delivery to Rebuild Trust in Government.
Simplifying the testing process to see if a person can do any job related to relevant past work because of a disability certification event is the main change from the old way of doing things.
With the new rule, job applicants will have to show their papers more often and more conveniently. In the first place, the SSA will not look at any old jobs that started or ended within 30 days of the application.
The second change is that you will only have to show five years of work experience instead of fifteen.
