Authorities say a man was shot and killed on Tuesday while trying to stop a “dispute” between a group of young girls that quickly got worse.
Miami Dade Police Det. Angel Rodriguez told the Herald in an email that the victim was shot by a “unknown subject” at the scene of the crime. The exact details of what happened are still unknown.
The police are giving $5,000 to anyone who can give them information that leads to an arrest.
Florida City Police Sgt. David Hunsberger said that police went to the scene of a shooting near Northwest 14th Street and Northwest First Court at 5:30 p.m. but found no one hurt.
Hunsberger says that Johnny Lewis Stevenson, 47, was flown to Jackson South Medical Center soon after he got to Homestead Hospital.
The police said Stevenson passed away during surgery.
