The team that was 0-6 to begin its first season in the FBS was supposed to breeze past Liberty, but something strange happened on the way to the blowout: it won.
The 27–24 shocker was a game that made the season, but now it is time to build and get better in the second half.
It was Alabama and Boston College that beat Western Kentucky. That is it. Everyone else has been able to beat it, even in a Conference USA matchup a few weeks ago at Sam Houston.

As a team, the Owls scored 300 yards for the first time this season, and they converted half of their third down chances for the second time in three games.
Even though Western Kentucky has a good offense, their defense is one of the worst in the country at stopping teams on third down.

Why Western Kentucky Will Win
It is a great offense for the Hilltoppers.
The offense smashed UTEP with the run game and blew past Sam Houston with the pass attack. The defense is strong so far.
Liberty lost to Kennesaw State because they controlled the game and slowed it down. It will be hard to do that against WKU’s strong attack, which should be able to get going quickly thanks to a strong ground game.
The most yards that Kennesaw State runs for is 2.8, so they will not be able to win the time of possession game.
