North Texas started off strong, going 5-1, but it has not been able to get that sixth win it needs to go to a bowl game.
With three straight losses, it is been knocked out of the American Athletic Conference title chase. For now, it does not have to worry about beating East Carolina and Temple; it will just go for it here.
In a year of rebuilding, UTSA has been a disappointment. But after beating Memphis 44–36, it is back in the running for a bowl game.
It should beat Temple next week, but the last game of the regular season is at Army, so it needs to beat UNT in order to have a realistic chance of getting to six wins.

The offensive line is still great.
It takes too long to move the ball and is not very good on third downs, but it is third in the country in total offense and passing, and the team is scoring 36.6 points per game.
The secondary at UTSA is not working well. They give up 293 yards per game and 347 yards or more in three of their last four games, including 454 against Memphis. But…

They take the ball away from you.
In the last three games, North Texas has turned the ball over twice, and UTSA has stolen the ball all three times. That is not why you called, though.
Want to be offended? You need a team that can beat North Texas. In the last three games, Owen McCown and the Roadrunners’ passing game have exploded, throwing for almost 1,100 yards and ten touchdowns.

There will likely be more offense than any other game this weekend, with over 700 yards of passing. There will also likely be a lot of big plays and a lot of points.
