Pitt is the quiet 6-0 team. The team gets the job done, has a strong passing game, and has had more close calls than the Orange have, with three of their last five games against FBS teams ending in scores of four points or less.

Why Syracuse Will Win

There have been some strange mistakes on special teams and in the secondary, and the Syracuse defense lets in too many big plays. The attack also does not have a ground game.

But this team always finds a way to win when things get tough, even in San Fran. Let us just say that the Orange have been through a lot.

Kyle McCord threw for at least 346 yards in every game, and the offense is great at moving the chains. Pitt needs to be ready to score at least 30 points and keep up with this great attack.

Freshman quarterback Eli Holstein had a bad game against Cal, but other than that, he is been great. In his first five games, he is thrown three touchdowns, which makes him look like the future of ACC football.

The way Cal played—he was not sharp, threw two picks, and did not get anything deep—is an outlier.

The team does not have a huge mistake problem, and they have a great passing game. Like Syracuse, they come through in the big moments, and you want battle-tested? In the last five games, three of them were settled by four points or less.

But there is one big difference. Orange is still having trouble getting behind the line because Pitt’s pass rush has stepped up.
