And both of the wins were over FCS teams.
Kansas has not been able to score. The team had chances to win both of the games they lost to Illinois and UNLV, but the playmakers were not making exciting plays.
For the first time in a while, the Jayhawks’ defence has not been bad. But that offence needs to go.
In their first game, West Virginia played well against Penn State. They were also close against Pitt, but lost both times. OK State is next on the road, so if it drops this, it will be a long way back up.

Why Kansas Will Win
The defence has been very good.
The Rebels ran the ball well, but Kansas’s defence stopped them from throwing. The run defence played really well in the first two games. Now they face a West Virginia offence that has not been very consistent so far.
At some point, Kansas’s offence will make it easier. It should be better than this because it has too many tools and too much skill. Jalon Daniels will start to complete more of his passes over time, and the running game will take over. But…
Why West Virginia Will Win
The number of turnovers is killing Kansas.
The first two games, the Jayhawks only caused one turnover. And that was it.
The offence lost to Illinois by four mistakes and then lost to UNLV by two more. They are now -6 in turnover margin.
As long as the Mountaineers keep up the pressure and make plays in the backfield like they did in the first three games…
Kansas vs West Virginia: Who Will Win
West Virginia also has a huge problem with turnover gap. It is having a harder time on third downs than keeping the ball moving.
Kansas’s offence will start to look more like it can win, but West Virginia’s will finally step up in a few key late moments at home.
