It was over for LSU in the SEC title race after three straight losses, all by more than 10 points.
They were no longer in the running for the College Football Playoff. Baton Rouge is not very fun right now, but it is going bowling and can finish with a ten-win season if it wins out.
Vanderbilt hit rock bottom when they lost to South Carolina 28–7 a few weeks ago, but it is now game over. After beating Alabama, it can now go to a bowl game. The next two weeks will be fun, with LSU on the road and Tennessee coming up.

Why Vanderbilt Will Win
It should matter that they had two weeks off after losing to South Carolina.
The Commodores fell to South Carolina, but it was not because they were down.
The defense played its worst game of the season, the offense was not very good, and the team looked like it needed a break. It is already good enough to bowl; all the stress and pressure are on the other side of the field.
The LSU offense has not been good in the last three weeks, and the defense is not making the big stops and plays it did during its six-game winning streak.
Now, the team has to deal with Diego Pavia being rested and an offense that is been great at keeping drives going on third downs.
On third downs, LSU’s defense has been terrible, and…
Why LSU Will Win
It is just a feeling, but LSU could go one of two ways. It will either go completely wrong, or this is the kind of game that reminds everyone that Brian Kelly is still a great football coach, even with all his flaws, and the team is still full of NFL talent.
Vanderbilt wins because they do not mess up. While it does not get penalties and only turned the ball over three times in the too-close loss to Texas, the offense keeps things moving in general. But forget about it in a shootout.
It works well on third down, but LSU is better. For the time of possession battle, it is better because it has more explosion, and as long as it gets off to a good start…
Vanderbilt vs LSU: Who Will Win?
Not really. The last few weeks have been very exciting. What LSU team will run out of that tunnel?
After three games on the road in four weeks, the team is back home for a night game. The fans will be pumped up early.
Everything should be fine as long as the turnovers go down and the passing game connects early. Just get to 65% against a Vandy defense that gives up 66% every game.
This week, a win is enough for LSU. It is too late for them in the SEC and CFP games.
