Jim Jordan, who is in charge of the House Judiciary Committee, is going back to Washington for two more years.
Around 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, with about 52% of the votes counted, the Associated Press called the race for Jordan over. Jordan’s district goes from Lima to Ashland and includes Union County and the western half of Delaware County.
At 9:22 p.m. ET, about 80% of the votes had been counted, and the longtime Republican incumbent had 67% of the votes. Democrat Tamie Wilson, who ran against him, got about 32% of the votes.
Jordan has been in this job since 2007 and helped create the House Freedom Caucus, which is made up of conservative lawmakers. He was the only candidate in the primary for Ohio’s 4th District.
People who live north of Columbus are more likely to vote Republican. Wilson, who had run for office before, only got 31% of the vote in November 2022.
