Next month, some people who get Social Security will get a treat in their payments: people who meet certain requirements will get an extra check. Should you be getting Social Security funds, do not stress about it.
Nothing strange is happening. If you keep an eye on when the Social Security Administration pays out, you may already know about it.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients should learn more about the upcoming change as soon as possible, as they will be getting a payment early before the end of the year.
Social Security has announced an extra check for some beneficiaries in November
Because of the way the calendar works, people who get both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will get three checks in November: two SSI payments on top of their monthly Social Security check, and government-issued retired income for people aged 62 and up.
That being said, people who get SSI will not get any money in December. In August, people who get SSI had the same problem; they got two checks but no SSI check in September.
November is a special month because on the first work day of the month, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits start to be given out. SSI benefits are extra payments on top of Social Security for people who do not have much money or resources.
People who apply for SSI get their November payment on November 1. However, because December 1 is a Sunday this year, SSI payouts for December will be made on November 29, which is a Friday.

The next year will also have strange calendar events, and you can also find the 2025 calendar online. For instance, people who get SSI will get their January 2025 payment on December 31, 2024.
After that, they will get paid for February 2025 on January 31, 2025, and for March 2025 on February 28, 2025. This means that people who get SSI will not get any money in March. They will also get two payments in May 2025, but none in June.
The SSA website says that the Supplemental Security Income program helps low-income people who are 65 or older, blind, or have a qualifying disability. It also helps children with qualifying disabilities.
Most adults on SSI do not make more than $1,971 a month from work. Americans will be able to use a new, easier application process to get benefits later this year if they think they might be eligible for SSI.
No matter what date they were born, everyone who gets help from this program usually gets it on the first of every month. Based on the plan for Social Security payments in 2024, this is how SSI recipients will get their money:
- On Wednesday, Nov. 13th: Birth dates between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- On Wednesday, Nov. 20th: Birth dates between the 11th and the 20th of the month.
- On Wednesday, Nov. 27th: Birth dates between the 21st and the 31st of the month.
To be clear, if your monthly benefits do not come on time, you should wait at least three mailing days before calling Social Security’s customer service. The delay could be caused by problems with how your bank processes the payments.
Also, do not forget that you can always check your My Social Security Account for more details about your payment amounts.
How much money will beneficiaries receive on the next Social Security check?
According to the latest rules from Social Security, people who get SSI will get an average of $698 a month. Those who apply as individuals will get $973, and couples can get up to $1,415.
People who get these payments should know that the 3.2% cost of living adjustment (COLA) that was announced last year is already part of them.
SSI recipients will get these new payment amounts, which include the 2.5% COLA raise for 2025, when their payments are due at the end of this year:
SSI benefits | Social Security checks | 2.5% COLA increase | Extra income |
On average | $698 | $715 | $17 |
Individuals | $943 | $967 | $24 |
Couples | $1,415 | $1,450 | $35 |
Essential person | $472 | $484 | $12 |
