A lot of people in the United States will be able to get a new Social Security check before the end of 2024. For a lot of these people, this is their last check because their December checks have run out.
In the same way, this check will be the last one for a lot of Americans who will get up to $4,873. So, the highest amount of this benefit that will be paid out will no longer be that amount, but something else. For the same reason, after the payment on the 24th day, the amount for every American will change.
Because of this, we will not be able to get checks like the ones we have been getting in 2024. The last Social Security payment at the current amount will be sent to people who meet certain requirements on December 24. We will still be able to get the money from you even if you do not meet these requirements.
Up to 4 different checks will be sent out by the Social Security Administration in December. We are getting these checks as part of our retirement, but we might also get two more payments tomorrow. Who will get their last Social Security Payment on December 24th?
People in the US who have been getting Social Security benefits since after 1997 might be able to cash this check on December 24. To get to this amount, though, this is not the only thing that needs to happen. Another condition also needs to be met.
If a retiree wants to get their last payment on December 24, they must meet these two conditions:
- To have Social Security payment since after 1997. This requirement is good for three different payments during the month. So you can belong to one of the three groups if you have had a check since after that year.
- You must have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month. The second requirement is related to the beneficiary’s day of birth. Depending on the day we were born we get the payment on the second, third or fourth Wednesday of the month. This is not so in the case of having the payment since before 1997.
The amount of this check will be the same as it was in 2024, but that will change later in the year because the COLA will be added to the 2024 check. In the same way, we could get another extra payment in December 2024, but we would have to meet different grounds.
Ho to get an extra check from the SSA in December?
So that we can get this extra help, we need Supplemental Security Income. People who really need it in the United States get this check, and we have to meet two conditions to get it.
You can get SSI from Social Security if you are over 65 or have a disability. It is not necessary to have a retirement check to get this payment. You just need to be low-income and have few resources.
If we get Supplemental Security Income, we might get an extra payment in December. That is to say, this payment will be sent by the Social Security Administration on December 31. The payment will only be sent out the same day if Direct Deposit is chosen as the method of payment.
