A scary rush in SoHo was caught on camera, and a grandmother who was there for her birthday ended up in the hospital.
Six suspects running away hit Rosalyn Landsman and her husband, knocking them to the ground and knocking them out for a short time. The men were running away from cops on Canal Street who were seizing fake goods.
“My bones will be back to normal in five to six months,” Rosalyn said.
Three or four suspects were seen running away from the cops on a shocking video taken Wednesday afternoon as the couple walked along Canal Street. Both of the suspects ran off, stepping on Rosalyn as they did so. The couple was knocked to the ground.
“My husband crawled over to protect me, and then the police showed up,” Rosalyn said.
The cops were not far behind; they had just raided a SoHo tent market that wasn’t licensed.
“They just grab their blankets and run like crazy.” “We were in their way as they ran,” she said.
The grandmother broke four ribs, punctured her lung, broke her clavicle, and needed stitches in her head.
“I’m glad she’ll be okay. “But these guys did this,” said Kaz Daughtry, Deputy Commissioner of the NYPD.
The incident happened at the corner of Canal and Lafayette. On Friday night, PIX11 News went there and saw that the sidewalk shops were still open.
Daughtry said, “It’s taking business away from the real businesses in the area.”
As soon as PIX11 News talked to Daughtry at One Police Plaza, he invited them to watch a small army of his officers bust the illegal companies again.
“I kept the promises I made.” We’re going to take their stuff. “Illegal fake goods,” Daughtry said.
The police didn’t catch the people who hurt the Landsmans, but they did seize more fake goods, worth millions of dollars so far this year. This is part of a plan to improve the quality of life in the city’s business areas.
“You want to protect some wallets and are ready to step on people for those wallets. Is that what the city wants?” Martin Landsman looked at it.
Rosalyn Landsman said, “People don’t care about anyone else at all.”
