For people in the United States, the end of the month has arrived. In the same way, the end of the year is coming up, which means that the schedule for Social Security payments is also ending. That is okay, though, because the end of this calendar means the start of a new one.
A new Social Security schedule also means that people who get benefits will get more money. Because of the COLA, we might get more money from the government starting in January 2025 for all of our benefits.
The amount of money people get from Social Security will also go up, especially when they retire. Checks for Supplemental Security Income, retirement, and disability will all go up.
We are now looking at a new schedule with a new raise. This means that retirees will be able to get a bigger pension, which will directly help with the problem of rising prices.
Which Americans will get the extra Social Security next week?
People in one group may only get a Social Security check next week. For people who are retiring because of age or disability, it is important to remember that their benefits are split into four different mailings. Each letter is sent to a different group of retirees.
If we meet certain conditions, we will be able to get these benefits right away. The following things must be true in order to get the payment during the last week of December and the last week of the year:
- Have Social Security since after 1997.
- Have your birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
There are also no other requirements that must be met for the Administration to send us the check today. The day to mail will be December 24th, which is the fourth Wednesday of the month. If you are in that group and have not gotten the check yet, you might get it in just a few hours.
Also, we need to set up Direct Deposit so that we can get the payment as soon as possible. We can get all of our Social Security benefits right away with this method of payment, which is also the fastest.
Another check from SSA before the end of 2024
On the calendar for 2024, the 24th is the last day that retirees get paid. However, there is an extra check that Social Security recipients can get that is worth up to $943 more. This check is only for people who get Supplemental Security Income and meet certain requirements.
Setting up Direct Deposit will not only get our retirement payment right away, but it will also let us get our Supplemental Security Income check early. This is because this benefit is supposed to be paid on January 1, but that day is a holiday, so the Administration will send it earlier.
The largest check is not for $943, but for $967 for the same reason. The COLA 2024 will already be added, so the payments of this same SSI benefit from previous months will have 3.2% more added to them. The 31st of December is the day of payment.
