The 10 Best College Football Predictions Against the Spread keep going with picks four through seven. These picks include two big point totals and two late games.
Here are the top picks for Week 7: Boise State vs. Hawaii, UAB vs. Army, and more.
10 Best College Football Predictions Against the Spread: 4 to 7
7. North Texas at Florida Atlantic
Line: Point Total 58.5
Pick: Over
For your information, I have been royally burned this season by games that should have gone over but for some reason, no matter what, have gone WAY under.
I really was not sure about Temple vs. UConn last week.
I tell myself every week, though, “Give it a shot” if you think one team could get most of the points by itself.
North Texas had two weeks off to get ready. It scored 52 on Tulsa, 44 on Wyoming, and 52 on South Alabama before the trip to Boca.
The offense for Florida Atlantic is what might be wrong with the scheme because it had two weeks off as well. It is one thing to only score 14 points against UConn after being shut out for 10 points against Michigan State and 7 points against Army.
The Owls lost to the Huskies 48–14, though.
6. Southern Miss at ULM
Line: ULM -6.5
Pick: ULM
Over 2.5 goals, ULM is the favorite in this Sun Belt game that takes place on the road.
I know I have lost it.
But the Warhawks’ defense is great now that Bryant Vincent is in charge, and they have been able to get some good wins.
They beat Troy by four points and a strong James Madison team by two points each, but the defense took over and rarely gave up.
The only points Southern Miss got against Jacksonville State were seven, and they lost 23–13 to Louisiana last week. Even though the game will not have many points, it is not your fault if the ULM defense has a bad day. Remember, they shut down JMU and won 21–19.
5. UAB at Army
Line: Army -27.5
Pick: Army
For what reason do you think UAB is ready to take on the Army offense?
It is not your fault if the pick does not work. I tell this joke every other week. But it is definitely true this time, since this game does not seem like anything else but a complete Army wipeout.
So why is it so low? It is too much to ask Army to win by four touchdowns. It is, however, No. 1 in the country when it comes to racing by a mile.
Boise State’s running games are huge, with an average of 301.2 yards per game. Army is getting an extra 60 yards per game on average.
Tulane just beat UAB 71–20, and their running backs ran for 317 yards and six touchdowns. UAB’s run defense is 124th in the country.
Army should be able to do a little better than Navy, which beat UAB 41–18.
4. Boise State at Hawaii
Line: Point Total 59.5
Pick: Over
What am I going to say? You know what to do if you have been with me for a while.
If one team has what it takes to handle the over on its own…
There are only three things to worry about: 1) it is in Hawaii, where strange things have been known to happen; 2) Boise State might slow down with next week off and UNLV coming up; and/or 3) Hawaii could sneak this one up on you if you care about the 20.5.
That last part is fine on the over, though.
More importantly, Boise State just beat Utah State 62–62, and they did not play in the second half. It scored 45 points against Washington State, 56 points against Portland State, and 56 points against Georgia Southern.
A 37–34 loss to Oregon was the only thing that brought down the average score.
Hawaii is going to get 20 points. After that, you can go on. It should be fun to stay up late tonight, and then there’s…
