1. Washington State at New Mexico
Line: Point Total 71.5
Prediction: Over
The long nightmare that was America is finally over.
(Do not touch that.)
Not at all. I am talking about the terrible curse of my No. 1 picks in this piece, who kept losing in horrible ways. It got so bad that I BEGGED you to fade me last week because I came up with a crazy idea that could never happen.
The score was Washington State 49, Utah State 28. The over on the 69.5 came through, and everyone was happy.
This week, my number one pick was the over on the 72.5 for North Texas vs. UTSA, which came in at 75. Am I going to mock the gods again?
Why not?
No, you never, ever, ever, ever go over when you have 70 or more points. One team could forget to score, like San Diego State did last week when it rolled up and down the field against New Mexico but lost 21-16. Too many bad things could happen.
Also, the 17–6 win over the Lobos by Colorado State a few weeks ago should scare you.
Washington State will score 45 points and let 20 points slip away. We are getting close to the pin now. After that, a second miracle will depend on the will of a power that is bigger than us.
