An investigation into a murder that took place in May in San Leandro led to the arrest of three men on September 19. The man was shot in the neck with an assault rifle as he pulled into his garage.
Police say that Anderson Choy, 53, was making his way to his home on the 1800 block of Benedict Drive on May 5 at around 6:30 p.m. when two people approached him. At first, someone was trying to rob Choy, but one of the suspects shot at his car and hit him in the neck.
At the sentence, victims of the San Jose taekwondo coach speak out.
CCTV footage and other evidence helped police figure out that the attackers were brothers from Hayward named Erick Moreno (18) and Mauricio Moreno (28). They were caught by SLPD on Thursday.
For being an accomplice, a third suspect was also taken, but he was freed the same day. The defendant was not named, and the police did not say more about his part in the murder.
Lieutenant Abe Teng of the SLPD said, “This case shows how determined and persistent our detectives are in their search for justice for the murder victim.” “A lot of time was spent carefully gathering evidence and keeping an eye on people to make a case strong enough to do more than just arrest people.”
The brothers Moreno were both charged with murder on Monday by the DA’s office in Alameda County.
