In 2025, less than two months from now, more than 70 million people will start getting monthly payments from Social Security.
Some people who are eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), on the other hand, will not get all of their Social Security checks on time.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) says this is a financial program meant to help low-income people over 65, people with disabilities, or children who are having trouble paying their bills.
You can learn more about the 2025 monthly payment plan here. This will help you remember when the payments are due.
Two major changes for 2025 were announced by the Social Security
Five sets of payments are sent by the Social Security Administration every month to people who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (RSDI).
Beneficiaries get their money according to this schedule, as long as the following conditions are met. First, if they are eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), they will all get their payments on the first of every month, no matter what date they were born.
On the other hand, payments will be made to retired workers, survivors, and disabled people based on when they first applied for benefits.
People who filed a claim before May 1997 will get their benefits on the third of each month. People who filed a claim after May 1997 will get their benefits on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month.
Also, it is important to keep in mind that these due dates could change if there are holidays or weekends. The regular payment dates for January and February will be a little different according to the Social Security payment schedule 2025.
SSI recipients will get their benefits on January 31st and March 1st on February 28th.
The SSA makes these advance payments so that if a beneficiary’s regular payment date falls on a holiday or weekend, it will be moved to the previous business day so as not to affect their budgets.
When will beneficiaries receive their Social Security checks in January and February?
The following dates are for sure the first months of 2025 Social Security payments, based on the 2025 payment schedule.
You may remember that the cost of living adjustment (COLA) of 2.5%, which was announced on October 10th, will already be taken out of these Social Security benefits.
The federal agency predicts that retirees, survivors, disabled people, and SSI recipients will get their monthly payments on the following days:
