Who does Washington miss from the Big Ten schedule?
Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Pennsylvania State, and USC
The Huskies may not have missed Ohio State, Michigan, or Ohio State, but the eight games they did not play were all dangerous, including Northwestern.
Indiana and Penn State advanced to the College Football Playoff, Michigan State should be stronger, Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska will have great seasons, and you’re not moaning if you miss USC.
Washington football schedule: the good and the bad
The Good: Washington does not leave the state until October, and then only twice before traveling to Wisconsin in the second week of November.
Last season’s loss to Washington State was disappointing, but if they win this time, they will be 3-0 before facing Ohio State – at least that game is at home, as is the date with Oregon.
Going to Michigan, Wisconsin, and UCLA does not appear to be easy, but Washington may be fine as long as those three are not significantly better than 2024.
The Bad: Michigan, Wisconsin, UCLA, and Maryland could all be better. On the good side, all four games are spaced out. On the negative side, Washington does not have two consecutive home games beyond the first two weeks.
The two off weeks aren’t really helpful. The first is too early (Week 3), while the second is in early November before heading to Wisconsin.
Washington football schedule: best and worst case possibilities.
Best Case Scenario: The Huskies arrive at the Michigan game in the middle of the season with a 5-1 record. Forgive the loss to Ohio State and go forward.
They win two of three away games against Michigan, Wisconsin, and UCLA, stay undefeated at home against Illinois, and surprise Oregon to finish 10-2 and qualify for the CFP.
Worst-case scenario: The Huskies lose to Washington State again. That’s exacerbated by a loss to Ohio State, and the team has yet to find its groove since.
There’s a concern with the three road games against Michigan, Wisconsin, and UCLA; a defeat to Oregon hurts, and a win over Oregon is required merely to be bowl eligible.
Season Prediction: (February 1). It isn’t a terrible schedule, but it will be difficult to find any flow without a significant stretch at home. On the other hand, the biweekly road trip may put Washington in a different frame of mind.
For now, expect a 1-2 run against Ohio State, Michigan, and Oregon, with a 3-0 start enough to comfortably reach seven victories and bowl eligibility.
