We are still not ready to change our minds, even though Ohio State lost to Oregon, Georgia played poorly against Mississippi State, and Texas dominated Oklahoma.
There is one main opinion that each conference’s race will start with: the ACC and Big 12 will each get only one team in. But if you count Notre Dame, it is more like 1.5 in the ACC.
Here’s how we think this will go into Week 8.
– Ohio State will win all of their games, including the Big Ten Championship game against Oregon again. Three teams from the Big Ten will make it into the final top five, but only the conference winner will get a top four seed.
– At the end of the regular season, the SEC will come down to the Texas game at Texas A&M. The winner will lose to Georgia in the SEC Championship.
Five SEC teams are expected to make it to the top 12, even though only one will finish in the top five.
– Clemson will breeze through the rest of the ACC on its way to a 12-1 record and the third seed.
– The Big 12… God bless you. In the most even league from top to bottom, teams will start to beat each other. But it will not be too heavy on the top teams; the Big 12 winner will make it in.
Boise State will beat UNLV in the regular season, but UNLV will get back at them in the Mountain West Championship.
Also, keep in mind that the final College Football Playoff top 25 does not have to have a record of 9-3. For example, Ole Miss is expected to go 8-4. Here is our current guess for the final College Football Playoff top 25.
