A woman from Kentucky won the best gift of her life when she found one of the top prizes on a Kentucky Lottery scratch-off ticket.
Brianna Vanhoose from Magoffin County, Kentucky, said her aunt gave her the scratch-off ticket as a birthday present.
“I had never bought a $50 ticket before,” her aunt told people from the Kentucky Lottery. It was her birthday, so I scratched off one ticket and gave her the other one.
Vanhoose’s aunt, who was not named by officials, also made money because she bought the $50 ticket, but not nearly as much as her niece.
“She won $75, so I thought, ‘Okay, I am not going to win anything,'” Vanhoose told lottery crews. “I scratched it, and then I saw it and ran away.”
When Vanhoose was at her mom’s house, she matched the number 49 on her ticket and won the $50,000 prize. There was also her aunt there.
Vanhoose’s aunt told lottery officials, “I was behind her and I did not know what was wrong, and no one else did either.” “She would not stop yelling.”
She went with her aunt to the Kentucky Lottery headquarters in Louisville on October 15.
After taxes, she got $36,000.
“I still do not know what to think,” Vanhoose told the lottery staff. “It does not seem real yet.”
A Kentucky Lottery Millionaire Club ticket, which costs $50, was the scratch-off. The biggest prize on the ticket is $1 million, but only four people across the state are supposed to win it, according to the words on the ticket.
The second-best prize is $50,000, which is given to 144 buyers across the state. The third biggest prize is $10,000, which is given to 1,260 buyers.
The ticket was bought in Salyersville, Kentucky, at Kash Stop #2. Because they sold the winning ticket, the store will get $500.
