The Poll of Death — Week 14

There weren’t a lot of games for conference championship weekend of course, but some spots did change hands. The bowl games have a TON of potential for shaking up the poll.

1. Georgia

Win vs. LSU 50-30.

Absolute domination from Stetson Bennett and the Bulldogs. If anyone wants to grab the Poll of Death national championship, the road is through Athens.

Next game: Dec. 31, Peach Bowl (CFP Semifinal) vs. No. 8 Ohio State

2. Michigan

Win vs. Purdue 43-22.

Michigan stays at No. 2, and although TCU may have lost last week, the Horned Frogs shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Next game: Dec. 31, Fiesta Bowl (CFP Semifinal) vs. No. 24 TCU

3. South Carolina

Next game: Dec. 30, Gator Bowl vs. Notre Dame

4. Utah

Win vs. No. 4 USC 47-24.

This was not a result I expected. The Trojans defense was really, really bad and the Utes’ defense was able to shut down a hobbled Caleb Williams in the second half.

Next game: Jan. 2, Rose Bowl vs. Penn State

5. Tennessee

Next game: Dec. 30, Orange Bowl vs. No. 13 Clemson

6. South Alabama

Next game: Dec. 21, New Orleans Bowl vs. Western Kentucky

7. Texas A&M

Not bowl eligible, will finish the year at No. 7. Congrats, Aggies!

8. Ohio State

Next game: Dec. 31, Peach Bowl (CFP Semifinal) vs. No. 1 Georgia

9. Kansas State

OT Win vs. No. 9 TCU 31-28.

What a win for the Wildcats. Deuce Vaughn’s Wildcats jump 15 spots and find themselves in a New Year’s Six bowl.

Next game: Dec. 31, Sugar Bowl vs. No. 17 Alabama

10. Washington

Next game: Dec. 29, Alamo Bowl vs. No. 12 Texas

11. Washington State

Next game: Dec. 17, LA Bowl vs. Fresno State

12. Texas

Next game: Dec. 29, Alamo Bowl vs. No. 10 Washington

13. Clemson

Win vs. North Carolina 39-10.

Next game: Dec. 30, Orange Bowl vs. No. 5 Tennessee

14. Oregon State

Next game: Dec. 17, Las Vegas Bowl vs. Florida

15. Arizona

Not bowl eligible, will finish the year at No. 15. Congrats, Wildcats!

16. Missouri

Next game: Dec. 23, Gasparilla Bowl vs. Wake Forest

17. Alabama

Next game: Dec. 31, Sugar Bowl vs. No. 9 Kansas State

18. USC

Loss vs. No. 18 Utah 47-24.

USC WHAT HAPPENED? The Trojans blew their shot at playing for a national title. There seems to be a correlation between Lincoln Riley-coached teams and bad defense.

Next game: Jan. 2, Cotton Bowl vs. Tulane

19. Army

Next game: Dec. 10 vs. No. 23 Navy

20. Arkansas

Next game: Dec. 28, Liberty Bowl vs. Kansas.

Go Jayhawks!

21. Florida State

Next game: Dec. 29, Cheez-It Bowl vs. Oklahoma

22. Kentucky

Next game: Dec. 31, Music City Bowl vs. Iowa

This will be an absolute barn-burner.

23. Navy

Next game: Dec. 10 vs. No. 19 Army

24. TCU

OT Loss vs. No. 9 Kansas State 31-28.

Although they lost and swapped spots with K-State, Max Duggan and the Horned Frogs will be one of the last four teams playing for a championship. I know I’ll be rooting for them.

Next game: Dec. 31, Fiesta Bowl (CFP Semifinal) vs. No. 2 Michigan

25. Texas Tech

Next game: Dec. 28, Texas Bowl vs. Ole Miss

I'm a Penn State grad with a degree in Film Production, pursuing my Master’s in Journalism. There’s nothing better than a 14-7 B1G game in 30° weather. I love Penn State football way too much, and I believe that you could be a better head coach than James Franklin. I don’t have many good CFB memories, but my least favorites are when Ohio State ripped my heart out in front of my face in 2017 and ‘18.
